Global Profiles of Major Corporations
Web Sites of Principal U.S. Companies: The Global Profiles of the Dow 30
In this module you will learn:
- How major U.S. corporations design their websites
- How you should think about your own organization in a global context
Exercise
The following is a list of the web sites for companies that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Index. Look at several of these web sites. Answer the following questions.
1. Do many of these companies appear to have a "global profile" (i.e., a profile or appearance that tends to emphasize the global or international scope of the company rather than the fact that it is a U.S. corporation)?
2. What are some of the things these web sites have in common?
3. Does this affect how you should think about the "profile" of your own organization, business, or school?
NOTE: For all questions in the modules of this course, always take time to write down, or seriously think about, the answers before you look them up. Some questions do not have specific answers and are intended to be thought provoking. In a classroom or online setting, you may wish to discuss your answers with others before looking at the answers.
